Histórias globais e locais na América Latina

Resumo

Neste artigo, é examinada a repercussão da história global na historiografia latino-americana. Nos países centrais, a chamada virada global ganhou nos últimos anos grande destaque na região. Ainda assim, será argumentado que a adoção dessa abordagem apresenta uma característica paradoxal. Embora as histórias mundiais - o núcleo duro do campo no âmbito acadêmico anglo-saxão, tenham despertado pouco interesse; o oposto ocorreu com abordagens relacionais como a história transnacional, conectada ou integrada. Por trás dessa recepção desigual, subjazem questões acadêmicas e geopolíticas de grande importância. Neste ensaio são analisadas, a esse respeito, as relações entre as tradições historiográficas globais latino-americanas e as novas histórias universais; as agendas de pesquisa que vêm se articulando no continente em torno dessa abordagem do passado; e as implicações dos modelos de análise global na reescrita das histórias nacionais do Chile e Estados Unidos.
