Narrar tudo aquilo que está abaixo do Céu: a ideia de tiān 天 (Céu) na estruturação da historiografia chinesa pré-Moderna

Resumo

Este artigo objetiva discutir o papel definidor do conceito de “Céu”, ou tiān 天, na estruturação de uma epistemologia historiográfica chinesa, especialmente durante o período aqui entendido como pré Moderno – ou seja, anterior às alterações políticas, sociais e culturais que marcaram o Qīng 清 Tardio e o início do período republicano. Essa análise parte das apreciações metodológicas de Nicola di Cosmo, Chenshan Tian e Huaiqi Wu, que apontam para a íntima relação entre teorias políticas gestadas ainda no período Zhōu 周 e a escrita da História, de forma que se pode argumentar pelo caráter relativamente pragmático do registro e interpretação do passado. Essa perspectiva será entendida em variada produção historiográfica chinesa, como o Shǐjì 史記 de Sīmǎ Qiān 司馬迁 e o Shˇıtōng 史通 de Liú Zhījī 刘知几. Conclui-se que a ideia de tiān atua como principal elemento de coesão entre passado e presente, garantindo assim a função política e intelectual da historiografia.
