a methodological proposal for the study of political thought with a critique of the orientalist reading on Karl Marx’s works

In this paper, we show a methodological proposal for the history of political thought. Our method takes into account as interpretative criteria for the history of political thought the texts, contexts and frameworks in which the intellectual productions of political thinkers are created. We consider those three informative criteria as allowing us to understand what authors tried to communicate with their writings. As an example, we discuss Karl Marx’s view of colonialism confronting our methodology with that employed by the literary critic Edward Said.
