The problem of historicism and the human sciences in the 20th Century

Abstract

This paper deals with the relevance of the problems raised by historicism, showing its importancenowadays in the human sciences. In order to do so, one must understand historicism in a morecomplex way. That is the only way to avoid the usual reductions to which historicism is submitted.So, it is possible to understand historicism beyond “relativism” and “positivism”, but as a pledgefor acknowledgment the diversity of traditions, which makes possible a mutual recognition withinhuman diversity.
