Abstract

It has been a long time since the issue of the subjectivity of the researcher has been haunting historians. What is the right distance from the past? Is it possible to depart from the present to get into the past in its otherness, or are we still projecting into the past our own fantasies, interests and prejudices? Is it possible to overcome the alternative between pure objectivism and radical subjectivism? After a reconstruction of these questions, my purpose is to explore the possibilities to overcome the alternative between pure objectivism and radical subjectivism.
